Stamps are sold at different prices, from one cent to many dollars. If you are not sure how much the postage is for your letter, you may ask the man or the woman in the post office for help. He or she will give you the stamps you need. If you are sending your letter far away, you should use airmail envelopes. Remember that postage will be more expensive for a letter to be sent outside the country.

In November, 2011, a robot called Curiosity was sent into space by scientists in California. On August 6, 2012, after more than eight months of travel, Curiosity reached Mars.
The robot landed near Mars’ equator (赤道). Minutes later, it sent back to the earth a black and-white picture of its own wheels on Mars.
Weighing about a ton, the robot is the heaviest Mars explorer yet. The three Mars robots were sent before Curiosity depended on large airbags for a soft, safe landing. But Curiosity’s weight made landing very difficult. The scientists planned a number of steps to slow down the spaceship carrying Curiosity so that it would not go crashing into Mars. As it came close to Mars, a large parachute opened, helping to slow down the landing. Later, other things helped slow it down more. In the end, Curiosity had a safe, gentle landing.
Curiosity will stay on Mars for 98 weeks, looking for the ingredients (组成部分) of life, and might find an answer to the question of whether or not Mars once had life.
Scientists hope that Curiosity will make some big discoveries. But for the moment they are happy that their latest robot made it to Mars safely. Charles Elachi, director of the landing team, compared his team of scientists to a team of Olympic athletes. "This team came back with a gold medal," he said.

I’m Graham Hughes, from Britain. Four years ago, I decided to travel alone to every country in the world. I did this for many reasons: to set a Guinness World Record; to raise money for charity; to tell great stories to my grandchildren. But the main reason was to show that the world isn’t a terrible scary place and that you can go anywhere with patience. I didn’t take an airplane mainly because nobody had done it yet. Besides, by travelling on the bus or train I could spend more time with the local people. And it was a lot cheaper.
There were many interesting things as well as difficulties during the trip. One place I will never forget is Iran. It is the friendliest nation in the world. I was treated like a guest by everybody I met. At one time, on a bus, an old lady smiled at me and passed me her mobile phone. The man on the phone told me in English that the woman was his grandmother. She wanted to invite me to her home and cook me breakfast because she was worried that I wouldn’t have anything to eat the next morning.
After my journey, I have learnt that there are good people who will help a stranger in need, all over the world. I have also learnt that people, wherever they live, are not that different. Finally, I have learnt that nobody knows what will happen at the end of the day, so we should enjoy the journey during the day.
